Kenwood, my brother and the youngest La Boz son were quite close friends in elementary school--they still speak periodically today (they met about forty years ago). I knew the two older brothers because I went to high school with them, one was my age and one two years older.
Today, the three brothers are very successful real estate investors, they own numerous buildings in New York.
My Tele-Star drums (bought in 1972) were pretty good, but I wanted American drums at that time (because that was the difference between serious players and not serious players in my mind). My drums held up pretty well--they were still in good shape (and they sounded pretty good) when I gave them to my friend's child about ten years ago, however, they weren't in as good shape as the 1976 Slingerlands I bought to replace them, and the Slingerlands are still in near perfect shape today.
