From Dan Boucher

Tommy,Is that 12, 24, 14, 16 you have set up there?

Pretty good eye Dan! You are close! I swapped out the 9X13 and 16X16's for an 8X12, and TWO 14X14's. The 14X24 stays in place of course. I did that for a couple reasons: The "smaller" toms allow slightly higher tension/tunings with excellent projection .. and .. they match up real well with "Frank's" voice. To get the 13 and twin 16's in that area, I would have to pull them up too much tension wise, and they would start to choke. I HAVE also played 9X13, 14X14, and 16X16 with this group too... you are correct! The 8X12 really did it though, plus the 2nd 14X14. It's really neat that I have three 60's era Rogers sets all in WMP, so I can mix and match at will! Amazingly all the WMP matches pretty darn well too. A plus!

THANK YOU Wayne for the view and taking the time to comment! You are definitely one of THE Rogers guys here too! I have been playing those BR Celebrity's for over 10 years now, and they have NEVER disappointed visually, or aurally! We have done more than a few concert halls with the Sinatra Show, but this one was REALLY nice acoustically. As I was saying to myself, well... it's 112 years old/restored. There was NO PA system back in 1903!, so it had to be designed and built with acoustics/projection in mind... and it was!

Tommy love those drums of yours! And the new bass head is killer!! Nice of that gent to hook you up with that. You know it's funny on your Powertone. I have a Slingerland Sound King with that same weird dull silver coating inside. There was a thread on here some time ago about it. I just assumed the drum was COS. But it might be COB as the magnet does not stick to it anywhere. And it's a powerful magnet!!! I need to poke around it further someday. Beautiful theater too! Glad you had a great couple of shows.

THANK YOU for the nice words as well! I know you enjoy the vintage drum scene quite a bit, and especially so instruments that actually get restored/played! Regarding the Powertone:

Very interesting on your Slingerland Sound King Glenn! So let me ask you, as I don't know a lot about the Slingerland metal snare drums as BR didn't play any: Is that DULL SILVER coating on the interior the usual way it was done with that model? Or, is that odd? Do you remember what was said in that thread? On the Rogers Powertone models, the interiors are polished!, bright, shiny... so that's why this particular drum is so odd. But again, the sound! So unlike any other Powertone I have ever owned/played. I'll be curious to hear what you have to say about the normal/usual interior on the Slingerland Sound King!

Tommy it seems some earlier SK's are unpolished chrome inside. Some later like mine maybe rough unpolished chrome? And some both ways. No real pattern it seems. Some Aluminum shells being made was also suggested. But yes seems a fairly common finish inside for the drums.

Justin!

THANKS for the nice words! There are some "clips" here and there, as well as a couple complete shows that would been to be edited. Here's a quick clip from earlier this year. We did this show at the Hartford Infinity Music Hall, and my wife Deb was able to get the intro/fanfare of "My Way" into "The Lady Is a Tramp". You can get a good feel for what we do here! Most unfortunately, the clip is only about 2 mins. long as she was asked to stop recording, and that is due to their policy where they have paying customers/seating, and they don't want all these cell phones in the air blocking views. Makes sense to me! Also, I'll put up another clip that the agency uses for booking purposes .. and .. a piece of "Cute" from that same show. Hope you enjoy!

THANKS Dan! Glad you enjoyed!!! That's the 1967 Rogers wood/WMP Dynasonic too. Nice response, yet still has some "throat"... GREAT drum!
