That is ONE NICE flight case, so that bomber snare should travel in style.
Now to find a matching one for the Bass !!

Finding a case to fit a 26" bass drum would be a miracle!

Hi,
I know this is an old post but I have to ask. I collect bass drum pedals. Is there a way to get in touch with the person that has the wooden bass drum pedal so I can see if its available for sale?
Thank you,
SAZ
^let me do this right away.
He is not living far away from my place so that may well work out.
Nice drums! I love rolling bombers. I have a pre-bomber RK set in 26 13 16 with metal lugs. Absolutely stunning kit. Beautiful to look at, any amazing to play. And not really very heavy either. Beautiful old Mahogany shells.

No problemo.
Message sent - I'll keep you informed. From what I recall he has quite a few sets also trap kits and very old stuff.

Wow - what an impressive list of drum kits!
I'm currently recording an EP with the Rolling Bomber set and struggle a bit with the bass drum.
What do you guys play in terms of heads?
2 calf skins sound great for that deep thundery open tone but sounds too long for groove-oriented music.
I've put a G2 head with the external muffler (I know, it's super non-sexy compared to natural skin) that helps tightening up the sound but it still is quite long. Muffling more results in a dramatic loss of bass frequencies which defeats the purpose of the 26"...
It seems that calf skins develop a lot of midrange frequencies that are not super easy to manage.
How do you guys deal with the issue of note length?

Thats why 26"s phased out. They bring thunder, but not focus so much. You could try putting on a modern head and porting it and dampening it down internally with a big pillow. This should introduce some funk into the drum. Ok it defeats that massive sound, but it should give you a lovely deep thud engineers are used to, and give you a faster action in the drum itself for your right foot. The size of the drum will still make for a deeper sub thud than smaller bass drums, that mic will still pick that up.
