Your drums are beautiful, congrats and welcome to the Bomber club.

I also have a set but play the toms.

Bill, your finish "IS NOT" original. slingerland never produced bombers with a plain white shell.

I've only ever seen the following colors :-

Black/Silver/Black

Blue/Gold/Blue.

Brown/Gold/Brown

Blue/Gold/Blue

WMP.

An interesting thing to note, no matter what color the bomber set was, they ALL came with wmp inlay on the hoops.

Dave, I do know the history of my Bombers

and knew both previous owners Both of who have been dead many years.

They are absolutely original white painted. According to my research Slingerland made

2 styles. The more economical version has tacked pigskin heads on all toms and

does have the pearl hoops. The tacked heads are original and do not appear to have ever been off. I did replace a few tacks on the 14". So does that mean yous was repainted? Does this make my set more rare? It has been in an old attic since the 60's. ALL parts are here including wood floor tom legs. Hey experts, would having mine repainted hurt the value? I do have all the original hoop mounted tom hardware.

Mark,

Didn't know slingerland did a gold bomber, that would be superb to see.

I suppose back in the day, you could have ordered any color Slingerland offered for you bombers.

Bill,

Thanks for the info on your drums. Interesting to note the two styles as well. Wonder what the difference in price was between a plain white set as opposed to a pearl/duco covered set??

"So does that mean yous was repainted". Bill, my set is wmp never painted white.

No, I don't think your set's value is affected much due to it being white, if you have all the hardware you say then that will add to the value of the set. Granted, white isn't as desirable as wmp but if you can find a complete bomber set these days your doning very well.

Also, having yours re-painted would hurt the value, just wipe it down and leave it as is. How bad is the white as you suggest a re-paint?

Nice touch with the rosewood legs, mine doesn't have them. I have a cradel for the floor tom.

What hoop mounted hardware do you have then?

Post us some pics of you set please. I'd love to see them.

Dave, sorry, I was asking Pask74 about whether his snare was repainted.

I will post some mounting hardware pics.

Bill,

Thanks, do you know that sllingerland had wooden cymbal arms as well that you could have covered in the same wrap as you drums !! I've only seen them in pictures never in person.

Also never seen any bomber wooden snare stands or bass drum pedals.

All the bomber documentation I have shots the sets with regular metal stands/pedals.

If you or anyone knows differnt lets see em'.

Dave, that is a new one to me. Pearl covered cymbal holder? Wow! Did you see it in an advertisement or an actual holder? Makes me start to wonder about those pearl covered bass mufflers. I have a BDP version but have owned some in wmp. Perhaps, that too was a WWII item. I have never seen them offered anywhere. I guess covering hardware parts in pearl saved on plating, which during the war was an issue. Below are examples of BDP covered mufflers.

Mark,

Those are beautiful. I've seen pics of a BDP one but never seen one in person. Wish I could find a wmp one for my set.

Re pearl covered holders. I have it in a bomber leaflet, showing the rosewood lets and also the cymbal arms. I'll see if I have it on the pc or I'll take a pic of it for you.
