Buddy Rich's Daughter Cathy - DRAMA on Facebook

From larryz

Sure the owner wasn't a Bill Robertson? Anyway you made a killing by getting the Rogers kit in exchange ;)

Or Burt Rogers, what other proof did you have that they actually belonged to Buddy Rich? And if they did belong to Buddy, how the heck did the previous owner acquire them and how did they not know they were Buddy's cymbals? Sounds fishy.

Thanks for posting that Mark. Looks like some of her comments were deleted. I was able to read/see most of it early this am. But some are gone now. Or privacy settings may have been changed. I was reading it in the BR lounge. Maybe they will try to work things out in private.

Tommy out of everyone I thought you'd maybe end up with those cymbals one day if the price was reasonable. We'll see where they turn up??? I bet they got stashed away now.

Glenn.

Johnny....for 1 thing...you can not stamp into the metal after the cymbal is made....so...I just assumed...BR was Buddy......just as GK is.......get it?..I don't think they would go thru all that for a nobody!

I have no clue how the older guy in Jersey got them.....didn't,t ask.........I just grabbed around 10 cymbals from him...and I stressed..THEY HAD TO BE THIN......

They came UPS .....and I had a very nice surprise!..Still fishy..?

I would had thought any cymbal made for Buddy Rich would not be in circulation without anyone knowing what is was. I'm sure BR didn't just give away his cymbals to anyone. Maybe someone here would know, but it stills seems odd.

I'm still waiting for some kind of mention of evidence from her, which wasn't forthcoming in her update. I don't really doubt that the cymbals were stolen, but without any documentation to that effect I wouldn't give her the time of day if I were Donn Bennett.

Also, yes. $30k is ludicrous. A lot of his prices for celebrity gear are right along those lines.

BTW, thanks to whichever mod moved this to the correct section. My mistake posting it where it didn't belong. I thought it got deleted altogether!

There's only ONE mod, and that would be me! You're quite welcome! I try to keep a handle on all the "little" stuff as well as the other... ENJOY!!!

... and that "someone", is probably me! Truth be told JR, Buddy DID give away his cymbals at random over the years, and same with snare drums and complete sets. All true! I know of THREE sets of BR's personal cymbals as well as "singles" here and there that he gave away. I have SEEN many and helped authenticate some too. Out of the BR cymbals that I have seen/handled, none had a BR stamp into the cymbal itself. What they DID have was simply SPECIAL SELECTION on the underside in ink. I am not saying there couldn't be cymbals with BR stamped into the actual cymbal, as all sorts of things were done back in the day.. but ... the norm was they had SPECIAL SELECTION stamped on the underside. Furthermore, Lennie DiMuzio over at Zildjian was the one that hand picked Buddy's cymbals and had MANY ready to go when Buddy called. Those were hand picked by Lennie and stamped SPECIAL SELECTION, and these are the cymbals that are out there in other people's hands/collections. Again, yes!... Buddy gave them away here and there, but we don't know about ALL of them. I have also had the great pleasure of being offered THREE of BR's actual snare drums over the years, and believe me, I was tempted on two of them! Chatted with Cathy Rich about all of this at the Chicago Drum Show this past May. It was a GREAT time!
