Well, if they were indeed sold, they didn't sell on eBay UK:

... and that "someone", is probably me! Truth be told JR, Buddy DID give away his cymbals at random over the years, and same with snare drums and complete sets. All true! I know of THREE sets of BR's personal cymbals as well as "singles" here and there that he gave away. I have SEEN many and helped authenticate some too. Out of the BR cymbals that I have seen/handled, none had a BR stamp into the cymbal itself. What they DID have was simply SPECIAL SELECTION on the underside in ink. I am not saying there couldn't be cymbals with BR stamped into the actual cymbal, as all sorts of things were done back in the day.. but ... the norm was they had SPECIAL SELECTION stamped on the underside. Furthermore, Lennie DiMuzio over at Zildjian was the one that hand picked Buddy's cymbals and had MANY ready to go when Buddy called. Those were hand picked by Lennie and stamped SPECIAL SELECTION, and these are the cymbals that are out there in other people's hands/collections. Again, yes!... Buddy gave them away here and there, but we don't know about ALL of them. I have also had the great pleasure of being offered THREE of BR's actual snare drums over the years, and believe me, I was tempted on two of them! Chatted with Cathy Rich about all of this at the Chicago Drum Show this past May. It was a GREAT time!Tommyp

Thank you Tommyp! So, if you've never seen a BR cymbal with his initials stamped into the cymbal, then it could had very well been a fake. In which case, someone got a great deal and someone got ripped off, not to mention those cymbals are still floating around being passed off as BR's. Would Cathy Rich know about the initials?

Johnny..

you CAN NOT stamp into a cymbal......after it is made....for the second time..

I guess the G K cymbal was "fake" too?

Go on Cymbalholic and ask about stamped cymbals......

Just to clarify, when does the stamping process happen? I have a set of Avedis Hihats with Premier clearly stamped into one of them. When would of that Premier stamp occurred. BTW Premier went through a period back in the 70's of distributing Zils around the UK.

Blair/JR!

I also wanted to reiterate, as one would have to read my post carefully!, that...

... I made mention that I had not personally seen/handled any of the BR stamped cymbals, but that doesn't mean there aren't any of them! And, I would doubt that they are/were fake. As to were they Buddy's, well... that we don't know!, unless someone that knows for sure makes mention at some point. As to the actual method and timing of when those cymbals were stamped, that I have not a clue! Half the fun and intrigue of this stuff is hunting down the facts and proof!

That doesn't matter, there is no absolute proof that those cymbals you bought for $75 each and traded for a Rogers kit were BR's cymbals. Tommyp is the most knowledgeable guy I know about BR and he's says he's never seen any with the initials. Now, maybe there are some, but with no other proof than the initials you don't know for certain either.

Did they have the SPECIAL SELECTION stamp as well?

They stamp them before they make the cymbal.
