Great intro, welcome aboard. !!!

Thanks!! I figured I would just put it all out there!!

From GG Vintage

Welcome Mojo...sounds like you will have a lot to contribute.

I hope so...my knowledge is limited to mostly Rogers, but since I have added a Club Date to the collection, I have been studying up on Ludwig.

From Purdie Shuffle

Welcome aboard Mojo! Look forward to seeing a shot of that Rogers kit.John

I hope to post a good pic here soon...I have a lot of so-so shots, but if it is going down for posterity, I want it to be a good one!

Thanks guys, good to be here!

If this is the intro forum, then Howdy from the Land of Enchantment!

I'm an old guy (58), been playing since I was 13-14, played a lot of different styles in a lot of bands over the years, used to play for a living but can't make enough money to do that these days, but I never quit playing.

I was fortunate to have some good teachers, one of whom studied under Louis Bellson (when I met Louie some years later at a clinic, I told him I'd studied under Skip & he said "Then you must be a very good drummer"....I felt like Wayne & Garth: "We are not worthy!" :D what a gentleman he was).

Current sets are:

'68 Ludwig Big Beat with a '70 10" concert tom I converted to double head & the set's on its 3rd finish. Snare is a '90 Supraphonic Hammered Bronze with brass tube lugs & die-cast rims.

'59 Ludwig Downbeat in Black Galaxy (yes, I know how rare they are), I even have the original BD hoops.

Early '90s Pearl Export with a '69 Acrolite that's my practice kit.

I'm a Zildjian man, but I have some Wuhan Chinas, love the trashy sound & they're so cheap they're disposable.

Currently playing in a classic rock band (what'd you expect from an old dude? :D).

Welcome to all, i am new too (just joined about a week ago) after seeing everyone's posts i feel better too lol. Really felt lost. Been playing since i was seven am 53 took the last two years off so just starting to play again. Was burnt out been playing in tri state area for a few years but did 12 straight years of road work in three bands. It was more the politics that i became tired of than the playing! Anyway welcome everyone, love the site and hoping to find a little more info on the slingerland snare i am posting about in the general questions forum!

I've never introduced myself properly even though I've asked a few questions and quipped in here and there and follow the forum regularly. I'm Sean from north east England have just turned 48, I gig what I can get, and feel relatively lucky that I can at least play in a community big band on sat mornings. I've always just wanted to be able to make a real living from drumming I wish I could but anyway I'm now right Into vintage drums, although I can't afford anymore-I have four vintage snares and a couple of old rides. Anyway it's nice to be part of the forum and a big hello , even if it took a while .band2

I love the jazz era

Hi. Jerry Sterken here. I used to be on here as geraldsterken.Somehow my password got screwed up and after several attempts to put in a new password I gave up and registered new again as jerrysterken. It has been frustrating for me because a I don't understand computers at all. But I'm now back. I enjoy this forum very much. Thanks, Jerry.

Hey, guys!!

My name is Tony Trout and, yep, I'm new here. Just joined today.

I first learned how to play drums in church - however, I couldn't work the bass and hi-hat pedals because my feet couldn't reach them (I was about seven years old at the time).

I finally grew up enough to where I could reach the pedals but I still couldn't get my timing down right between the bass drum and hi-hat.

I should let ya'll know that I was born with Cerebral Palsy & Hydrocephalus and I was three months premature at birth and almost didn't make it. But, I am about to turn 39 on May 20th.

I, unfortunately, am considered "disabled" so I haven't ever been able to afford a set of my own drums except for a set that my late Grandmother bought me from the Sears catalog many, many years ago (it was a child's drumset but I still loved it!).

I have one main influence on drums: THE LEGENDARY RONNIE TUTT!! I'm a huge Elvis Presley fan and I love to watch Tutt play drums. I would love to be able somehow to put together a Ludwig kit exactly like his blue sparkle kit that he used from 1970-1974.

A friend of mine in Texas actually has re-created Ronnie's blue sparkle Ludwig kit from Elvis's early 1970s touring days - and it's a perfect tribute kit that he's made!

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself! I'm glad to be here! Maybe someday before I'm dead and gone I'll have my own Ronnie Tutt tribute kit! I'll post a picture of my friend's kit.

Thanks for letting me join!

Take Care,

Tony Trout
