Thanks very much everyone! Put a nice scratch in the floor tom today, smacked it with a maple board. Guess its time to get them out of the shop.

The drums sound very good, I think my attention to the edges really paid off, I could tell when using my drum dial to tune them up that they were flat and consistent, no low spots.

I have one more pic to take of the kit for the drum set gallery. This time I will have my blue and olive stands with the kit, and I bought a decal for the bass drum head that will look good. Then I have a ton of work sold so I wont be working on drums for a long time, but I do plan to use my free time to learn to play better. Then when I do get back to work on drums I think it will be my Camco kit, providing I can find parts, which I have been looking for for a long time with no success.

Thanks again everyone, I really do appreciate your taking time to compliment the drums, I really enjoyed this thread and I hope someone down the road will find it years from now after it has been buried deep in the archives and enjoy it as well.

Thank you!

One more thing!

I want to thank a very nice member who is greatly respected on the forum for sending me a box of slightly used drum heads. I was able to use some for this kit and My Kent set as well, so thank you!, you know who you are!

Thank you!

You know how I find a lot of these old threads? Google image searching "vintage ludwig drums" and other such combinations. It's always cool to find an old image from the VDF, and follow it to the old thread. I wonder if there's a way to tag your images to increase the chances of them showing up on a google search.

Awesome thread, lookin forward to the gallery pic...

Thanks Vibes and Mitch

I kinda figured the reason for the high number of views was from non members finding this by doing just what you say.

I have the logo on the bass drum head, it looks good. Now I need to polish up a couple of my best b/o atlas stands and put them with the kit. Then drag all of that stuff back out to the shop for a photo. So that being said, the gallery pic might not ever make it, lol!

Oh come on! :) You don't need to polish the stands, unless they're really bad. Also do open the loading door - the daylight pictures you posted look twice as good as the tungsten ones.

You've come this far! We.........we demand it!

> the reason for the high number of views

Jeff, you started this project in -June of last year- 9 months ago. We've all been checking in repeatedly on your progress all that time. You have a loyal following and rightfully so, you do some amazing work with veneers.

Time flies when you're having fun!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

John, I know some guys here have followed but I assume that much of it is people that have googled 70's Ludwig drums also and this thread pops up. That is how I found VDF in the first place. But, it has twice the hits that Jeffscabinets.com has and that has been up for several years so maybe it is mainly VDF members.

Mitch, I do need to polish the stands up a bit if its going in the gallery. But, time is a factor here, and when I get behind the kit I stay there. This kit is just awesome, I love it, no way am I selling it. I would have to get 7 or 800 for it and no one is gonna pay that anyway.

But I tell ya what, since it looks so awesome with the stands and my B/O tombstone case, I will snap a pic for you later today as sits in my office. These are some really great drums, sound and appearance wise, cant say it enough. I want to get an 18" floor tom for it now.

Thank you!
