This new snare just sounds awesome.
This stuff is really strong. I was using it yesterday and the minute you get it on your bare skin you will know and want to remove it promptly!!! Good luck it is an awesome product!
When you repaint the interiors it's best to do so before you do any work on the bearing edges. Its very hard to get the paint all the way up to the edge an not have it make contact with the head. I think Ludwig painted first and then trimmed the edges. This would explain how they got it all the way to the edge but not really on the edge. I found when I repainted mine after I had the edge work done that it would cause a few spots to be perhaps 1mm or less higher. I ended up stopping shy of the re rings but looking back if I wanted it factory perfect I should have painted first.
I strongly agree with the advice everyone is giving you. Trim enough of your wrap so that the wood is exposed around the collar of your drum heads. Perhaps have the wrap going maybe 1 or 2 MM's into your drum head collar and no more.
Looking great so far and after seeing the indents in the shells around the lugs I think you will be ok. The wrap should hide a little of that.

Great job and nice score on the snare drum.
Thanks for all your input airborne. It has been enlightening. Your comment about painting, and the bearing edge make complete sense.
that supra will be perfect for the kit. you had mentioned the clubdates were 64s. they are most likely march 65 drums with those serial numbers. would have been date stamped in the interiors, but the black paint messed that up. your supra is within a month or two of the clubdates.
nice job bringing these back to life.
