Looks like there were 2 small holes. Going to take it down as close as I can, and repair.

With holes its best to plug with wood. If it's an option make a plug from a similar shell. I would use something like long setup time wood glue or carpenters glue. Then you can use a filler like plastic wood to get you closer to finish. I have even used saw dust of the type of wood I am working with mixed with wood glue as a filler in the past.
Anyway a good wood glue or epoxy should do it. Either glue will be stronger than the wood itself when used properly. With epoxy you can even strengthen it more use micro balloons.

When I was filling in everything with wood glue I would let everything dry for at least 24 hours. Clamps are your best friend. Glue syringes also help big time.

I've never re-wrapped a shell but I remember recently that it was discovered that the "glass glitter" wraps are pretty much impossible to work with if you don't have the special tools needed to do the job correctly.
Looks like you're well on your way to doing a nice job on your clubdates. Good luck!
that supra will be perfect for the kit. you had mentioned the clubdates were 64s. they are most likely march 65 drums with those serial numbers. would have been date stamped in the interiors, but the black paint messed that up. your supra is within a month or two of the clubdates.nice job bringing these back to life.mike
Thanks mlayton. Question: These drums do have "red pad" baseball bat mufflers. Would that more likely make the 1964, or could they still be early 1965? Not a big deal, just wondering for my own knowledge.
There seems to be a gap in the dating for my serial numbers on the internet.

I've heard that about glass glitter as well. The "Blue Sparkle" and 60's Black Oyster Pearl Samples I have received from Jammin Sam's and Precision Drum Co. both seem easy to work with. Precision's samples are noticeably a thinner stock than Jammin Sam's. The Oyster Pearl samples visibly look identical, though thinner from Precision. The Blue Sparkle samples are all quite similar, except the expensive one from Jammin Sam's. It has an actual "texture" to it. Almost dimpled. Also it's color is definitely "greener" than the other cheaper versions. They all Look awesome, and on their own, when covering a whole drum - one would never know. But when lined up against each other, you can see big differences.
I have a sample Jammin Sam blue sparkle wrap. I think it is (as you pointed out) thicker than the Delmar blue sparkle wrap. To my eyes the Jammin Sam blue sparkle seems to have a little more depth (his Jammin Sam version is what he calls it and not his vintage sparkles) than the Delmar version.

there are some dating references that have some inaccuracies for sure. that's why I was trying to help out a bit. the red felt mufflers did hang around until right at the time when your drums were made. usually most everything I see from april 65 and later has the white felt mufflers.

The price difference is quite a bit - about $135 different from the JS to the Vintage.
