1964 Ludwig Clubdate -Newbie- In way over his head!

From vintagemore2000

Painted all the way to the top not the bearing edges.

Got ya - Thanks for the info.

I do remember a post, it was a green sparkle. He painted over the edge, and seemed to have his wrap cut short. At a close look, you could see the white under the rim. I want to get it as tight and close as possible. I wonder if I am better off ordering a sheet, and cutting it myself - or having the company I go with cut it?

But remember what Vintagemore2000 and I told you about wrapping those. If you don't cut that wrap exactly correct your going to have a problem. If you insist on doing it, you need to select which heads you are going to use and see how far down they fit on the shell, then your going to have to allow or guess how much more room you are going to need for the head to pull down over the shell when you tighten them up while tuning. I don't think anyone is saying it can't be done but your going where angels fear to tread. I guess if you are able to trim it a little at a time as you fit the heads it will work. Your looking at six sides to trim on the three drums. Are you glueing or taping the wrap ? Also I would not worry about the slight indentation from the lugs. You or someone else might want to go back to natural or lacquer and if you fill those little indentations it could mess that option up if it doesn't match perfectly.

Ouch. This is killing me. Definitely some issues near and around the leg holes.

I'm still going to strip it all the way to the bone. Hopefully I don't cause any damage. Treating this with kid gloves.

What is your suggestion? I was thinking of tape. I need to do some homework on it though. I know a lot of people recommend the 3M glue - but what is the recommended tape?
