You may want to sleep on this before making sweeping statements like that. I lost count of all the members here who stood behind you on the original drum resto thread. Members gave you items and sold you stuff and most all were wishing you the best.

This reaction of yours is so wrong.

I take it from the number of supportive posts in your thread you have a lot of support here. With these responses, you stand to ruin your reputation with pretty much everyone. There may be a couple that see it differently, but not many.

It's like you have forgotten WHY the cymbals were sent. Why did Mikey777 send you parts? Why did any of these members give or sell you parts? It's because you reached out to them and asked for favors - for charity. This forum responded to you and it was a great thing to see.

But you stand the chance of turning it into something very bad.

Tim needs to learn that the techniques he may have used successfully with his parents, ie: whining and complaining until he get his way, does not transfer well to the real world.

BTW... I have never asked for "charity". I asked that people contact me if they had the parts I needed, I was very clear and careful to say that I was 'in the market' to buy the parts. What you label charity is my friends, like Mike Layton who gave me an old pedal, or Glenn, who insisted on gifting me some heads for the drums, those are friends that stuff goes back and forth between us all the time. Everything else I paid full asking price for. Charity? Pull that one out of your tuchus did you?

This does seem odd to me. You sold the items and it is a done deal. If you had sold them to me, I would probably send them back, or at least I think I would, however, one should consider the entire situation and that is this:

Purdie has been working on this kit for long time as a well documented labor of love for his grandson. The process was held up by overdue funds and glass wrap that was more difficult to handle than anticipated. A lot of forum members jumped in to offer assistance and donate ir sell needed parts. John wanted to buy some period correct cymbals to go with the kit. He found them here on the forum and from what we understand, paid the asking price which appears to be in keeping with market value. He wants to get the project completed so he can give his grandson a fabulous, heirloom gift. In the final stretch of the project he finds out that Vibes wants his cymbals back. Huh?! So the affair has turned ugly and, if it were me, every time I looked at that kit it would be difficult to not recall this incident and somehow taint the whole thing.

In the final analysis, the products were sold, the negotiation is closed and that is it. If Purdie wants to send the cymbals back that is totally up to him and he is not wrong for wanting to consider the sale final. I think the reason I would send them back is that I wouldn't want to have to think about this affair again every time I would see my grandson playing his gift. Otherwise it is over and done, let it go.

IMHO - you sold. You agreed to terms. You found you made a mistake. You made good faith offers that were not accepted. Would be nice to get items back, but not required. Sorry.

You openly admit I asked for a return because of my mistake before they arrived. What is your problem? And I have not been ugly or obnoxious, pleading is more like it. I admit I made a mistake. I didn't realize they were part of a set I did not want to part with. I advised you of it and asked for a return before you received them. What is your problem man? I answered you 3 times and you say I am harassing you. I am asking you nicely to let me refund or exchange them so I don't break up my 50's cymbal set. I would not hesitate to do that if I were the buyer. Never in a heartbeat . I would say, no problem or big deal. I think you have shown your true colors. I have been honest about the whole thing. I still don't understand your reasoning of not returning them for a immediate paypal refund just like you paid for them. are you still going to insist i cashed a check or money order. that takes a while. your money is still in my paypal account. Sounds like you just don't want to admit your not right. It just boggles my mind your reasoning. If they did not gone with a set of other cymbals i would have let it go. Unbelievable.. He just wants them. That's all. Pretty obvious. Your going to be hard pressed to ever find another set like that. Why can't his grandson have some other A Zildjians. I mean really. Here is the paypal paymentt. Tried to just copy the page. Payment was from Beverly Bagans. Johns wife or girlfriend? Look, I know he legally does not have to return them. Mine is a moral and ethical principal. He should have just let me refund his money in the first place. No harm, no foul. I am just saying those of us who are moral and ethical would never be this way. That's all. It's like, you made a mistake , my gain, to bad for you and good for me. No conscious whatsoever.

Liar! I haven't had a Paypal account in over two years! They won't let me make any payments unless somebody sends me a bill. Even then, there are extra fees so I rarely if ever use Paypal. I paid you with a US Postal Money Order that and I paid extra for Priority Mail. Paypal? You have me confused with another one of your victims... uh, buyers.
