Hey guys I am a huge back to the future fan. Can anyone tell me what brand and model this drumset is from the movie. Thanks.

Hi Jordan,

That's a Ludwig classic set, although it's not a totally accurate portrayal of a kit of 1955 vintage.

The most obvious error is the later vintage double tom mount.

And, I'd guess. the mounted tom is the one that would have gone on the drummer's right side (if the set were used as a 5-piece) as it appears the (badge-less) vent hole is on the lower portion of the drum. In fact, (someone correct me if I am wrong) that, in itself, hints to this being a newer set as the vent holes were still placed in the center of the shell in 1955. Never the less this is a great looking set and doesn't detract from my enjoyment of 'Back to the Future' at all. 'One of my favorite films.

Oh, and I like the large size photos.

Hey,

I went back (not to the future) and looked at those pictures again and, going by the second one, I think there may be a 1970's style trapezoid badge that has been taped-over on the mounted tom. I'm not sure of this: what do you think?

The drums appear to be traditional 13-16- 22 in size.

Hey thanks for the reply. I didn't think it was a ludwig! Thanks for the tip! Yeah that Tom mount looks like the one on my 72 vistalite minus the ludwig logo.

I am not too familiar with the badges but it appears one was removed or maybe taped. It looks like maybe they were trying to hide any ludwig logos.

I want to buy one of these kits! What color/wrap is that?

Definitely a pieced together WMP White Marine Pearl Ludwig set. The upside down tom is 70's blue and olive badge. Probably a 60's era bass drum based on the fold out spurs.

The tom post is set backwards as well. The logo is facing the batter.

Funny but I always look at drums in movies to see if they're really period. I remember thinking this looked like a Ludwig but never saw a still picture of the kit. It makes sense that the tom mount was backwards to avoid showing the logo. Does anyone notice that around the vent hole on the mounted tom it looks like discoloration in the shape of a BO badge?

Hey thanks! Totally an upside down 2nd Tom Tom. BO badge removed for era correctness. I want this exact kit!

Thanks for the reply

Agreed. Pieced together Ludwig/WFL. You can see where the B/O badge was on the rack tom. The floor tom also appears to have nickel hardware in the second photo (at least the lugs and leg mounts).
