Please help me identify this drumset from back to the future

Hadn't heard Aaronoff was in it, but Alphonse Mouzon was the jazz trio drummer and had a decent solo cameo. Tom Hanks actually wrote some of the music used in the film, which in my opinion was really well done and period correct. Not too many movies I can think of where the drummer was actually considered the brains of the outfit either!

I did some research and he wasn't in the movie but he did record the drums for The Wonders "That Thing You Do" single from the movie and maybe the other songs too

Glad to see so many others check out the kits in movies to see if they are authentic. I remember seeing Detroit Rock City in the theater and immediately noticing that the crashes are Z or Z Custom (its been a few years) in a scene thats supposed to be late 70s!

Wow!!! Of all cymbals they could have chosen they used Z's. hahaha those are a dead give away

I watched the movie today - good movie, thanks for mentioning it here. I will have to go back and check out the Gold Sparkle kit a little more. The badge appears to be Slingerland(?) through most of the first part of the show and then when he's playing the kit later...there is definately a Round Badge on the floor tom. Nice WMP kit too. I enjoyed the movie. Ya....band dynamics...been there.....minus the fame of course.

I'll have to check that one out again. The natural kit looks like a Leedy kit from the Slingerland era.

Just last night I was catching up on episodes of the FX show "The Americans", which is set in the early 80s I believe. A garage band (actually a living room band in this case) had a time traveling drummer, playing what I believe to be either a DW or Pacific white sparkle kit. With all the cool 80s drums you can score for cheap, this makes no sense. But only a small % of the population would notice, and even less of them care!

True story here folks:I go to see my little brother play drums in a punk show and as I am pulling into the tiny club,I witness an unusual sight across the street during a PROLONGED SO-CAL DROUGHT. A wetted down maul parking lot? ?? It's empty but for a small canopy and two vehicles. If you guessed a VW van and a Delorean, then the rest is history.Yeah and what a shame to overlook the correct period of drums which were readily available too!
