Thanks for good word, Yoshi. This is a fun one to do. It's coming out better than I imagined.

Jeff - I'm using the solvent based one. For some reason I had it my head that it was expensive when I wrote about it, so I included the information. Appears my recollection was mistaken. It's really good stuff, dries fast and sands easy. I like that it gets rock hard and doesn't go crumbly when dry. Some do.

And yes, I am having a ball. I just love sharing with you guys. The feedback is always great, encouraging. I get as much of a kick out of peeking over your shoulders as you work, as I hope you get from me. Fun is just fun and it's infectious. Besides, we're all suffering from the same affliction... drum addiction. Who likes to get high alone?

The floor tom is stripped. I'll start sanding tomorrow... drum soon!

John

Guys - Please check out the 'Trade' section for my ad.

http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?p=192496#post192496

I have a vintage 16" COB 8-hole Camco hoop that I'd like to trade for a 16" Gretsch die-cast hoop to complete my RB floor tom.

If anybody has one and you're interested in the swap, pm me.

Ok, what's going on with that floor tom? This "to be continued" scenario causes me to become anxious!

Just a matter of economics amigo. I'm a retiree living on a tight fixed income. The wrap piece I need is a $78.00 item and add another $50.00 to replace the bottom hoop. It's not easy for me to pull over $100.00 out of money that is needed for necessities. I have other obligations that have to come first. That's why you see me scrambling around trying to sell this or that, or trying to swing a trade deal for something I need. Expendable $ is hard for me to come by.

Soon, is all I can tell you. As soon as I can. Nobody wants to see this kit completed more than I do. "I'm dancing as fast as can!" I have to look at a stripped tom and polished hardware just sitting there waiting...

Hi John~! You'll get it done asap. I've been looking at my tom for 20 some odd years and wondering what I'll do with it. I rescued it from the kids and grandkids a few times already. Finally found it's place thankfully. Hope you get some extra $$$ in your hands soon. Keep on truckin buddy.

Understood my friend. I wish I could take that Ludwig bronze snare off your hands to help out but money is pretty tight here as well. Just keep in mind that there are many of us living vicariously through those like yourself that are actually investing the time restoring drums. :-)

That's why I took the time to give you an honest/open response. I like and respect you and a lot of the guys here. I have nothing to hide from my friends, ever.

She'll get done soon enough! It'll be a sweet one too when it's finished. I can't wait.
