This is my latest project. Restoring as much as possible with period correct pieces (balancing price and patience). The two latest additions are 3 1970s tone controls in each of the toms and a late 1960s Swiv-o-matic pedal.

Great looking Londoner.Clapping Happy2 Hey amosguy, don't you have a wood Dyna for sale that would match that kit?
Mine in Koa. These look like New Mahogany ? ? Very similar looking in the pictures.
Yes, VERY similar, but I agree, this is New Mahogany.
Here is a better shot of the wrap.

The new Remo Coated Ambassador Bass drum head came yesterday.
The time to replace the imfamous Yamaha head.
A bit of history...
October 2010, this set was advertised on craigslist as a Yamaha set for $75. When I arrived I found a Yamaha head on a Rogers set. With no knowledge of Rogers, I took a chance and brought them home. The rest is history.
I am including some shots of the the condition of the bass drum and some of the oddities.
There are only three condition issues.
1. scratches to the left of the ludwig cymbal mount
2. chip on the hoop
3. serial number label is damaged
Oddities:
1. a ludwig cymbal mount
2. an unknown mount just in front of the tom mount
3. a little gray plastic clip (No idea what this is) stuck to the top
More heads are on order for the Toms. More pix when they arrive.

An evening and into the night cleaning the bass drum.
I disassembled
de-gooped the drum
removed the odd plastic clip
righted the ludwig cymbal clamp
polished the lug casing
waxed the wrap
SOS the lug threads
polished the lugs
lubricated
and reassembled (with new head !!)
The tips on cleaning location on this site were very helpful. They really encouraged me to do a good job with cleaning and were excellent recommendations.
I am choosing not to try any repairs. The scratches are the scratches and the chip on the hoop remains.
Somehow this close encounter although having made the drum very clean and shiney has reduced the "luster" the drums once had now knowing ever little tiny mark :-( oh well.
The toms are next....
