Hey guys, I recently picked up this 13-14-20-14sn Gracy set. It's WMP and has tons of mojo.
It's in pretty nice shape, just needs to be cleaned and, could use some new heads, all around. Also, the WMP has yellowed a little.
What would you say it's worth?
What would be the best way to sell it?

Welcome DB! These are seriously sweet! It is my research based opinion that Gracy bought most, if not all, of the components from Star. Although it does state Gracy Mfg on the badge, I still think they are only another stencil. I believe Gracy was nothing more than an assembler. The market on MIJ drums is not all that hot, and most kits are bringing between 200-300. This is top dollar for clean kits, with or without new heads. Heads seem to be a waste of money for the seller as I have not seen them do much to raise final sale prices. I would love tho have them, but the money is just not there right now. The best way is to put some time in clean up, a full detail, and then put them on ebay, unless someoen here makes an offer on them. If someone wants to clean them up, then you would be off the hot seat, but the sale price would have to reflect the lack of cleaning. These would really need a serious deep, lugs-off cleaning to get them to the top tier of sale price. Far too many people make the mistake of placing a huge reserve on their MIJ kits thinking because a Ludwig or Slingerland brings 600++, then surely their X-brand MIj is worth 500. The market just does not support these prices.
I do wish you good luck with them! There may a member or two here that would like to see these as a great gigging kit. Could you open them up and show off the shells? I would like to see what you have so I can give a better market opinion.

Yea the lugs, t rods, rims, straght ft legs...all gretsch copy, i actually have one of these, 13 tom with the badge "topper" .always wondered what the bass drum looked like. Cool drums!

Since you have all the matching pieces, to me, this set is crying out a full restoration....all bearing edges redone, wmp wrap scrubbed, all chrome shined and polished, new heads on ever drum, etc. I think it would look terriffic after that and might bring you $250 on the Bay.
I would clean and polish only if I were looking to sell.
Why spend $100 on inexpensive heads to try and get $250 ?
