The FT legs, eyebolts and brackets look the same as the FT to my Crown kit here

That said, there is nothing about this red marine pearl (small blue round badged )Crown kit that resembles my blue (script badge) Crown drums that are without question Hoshino made

I was looking at a Zim Gar guitar, and started poking around. Gar Zim Musical Instruments was a musical importer located in Brooklyn. Run by Larry Zimmerman and his wife. Best info on the company is this wee bit: http://drowninginguitars.com/2014/01/05/the-cutting-board-late-1960s-zim-gar-electric-guitar/

The article, while talking about guitars and not drums, mentions Kawaii and Teisco. Thanks for all the clues, gents.

Yeah it had me wondering if as an importer Gar Zim picked and chose among the manufacturers as the years and various contracts came and went. You do see some references to both Tama and Pearl being Zimgaristas. Perhaps Kawai as well, I dunno.

I have seen some really nice Zim Gars. .....AND I have seen some VERY POORLY made Zim Gar. I was excited to get these Zim Gars but when they arrived - very disappointed. Can't complain though - was FREE for cost of shipping.

Snare will go on cheap set to sell to beginner student, tom will become a pretty sparkly FLOWER POT for my flower garden this spring :)

....but not before I spray it all down with a good thick coat of clear lacquer to fend off the eventual rust.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
