Hi Jay,

Those look Slingerland to me. Hoshino and others copied the sound king lugs. Know all to well about paint the insides. My case it was black grrrr...

Was happy the way everything looked under black light. Times they do a change.

Best way to tell is strip some of the white paint. If the grain on the inner ply runs around the round of the shell not MIJ. If grain is parallel to the lug holes MIJ.

Few close up pics would narrow things down. Look close on the tom mount it may have made in japan stamped somewhere.

Thanks!

Creighton

Nothing special here but I like them.

I was thinking about using some paint stripper on the inside. I know when I did paint it I didn't use a lot of goop it on. So it shouldn't be hard to remove and shouldn't create too much damage the the wood underneath.

You may be able to tell which way the grain runs through the paint.. Also the hoops... are they sticksaver hoops..

Cheers

From ARCHxANGEL

My 1960's Pearl ( came badge less, but the inside of the bass drum had a stamped P, and the lugs look to be Pearl ) came without a tom mount. From the holes that were present as well as the center hole It appears I had this mount ( found this photo online ) I can't seem to locate this mount in any catalogs, and I haven't seen it in person. What year would this be from ( roughly ) Same lugs and everything on my kit, was just missing the mount on the bass drum.

I'm going to say that judging by the T-rods on the bass drum, they are not Pearl..Those look like they're either Star or a Star stencil such as Stewart..I don't recall seeing any other MIJ kit from that era that had those "faucet" style T-rods, other than the ones made by Star.. I could be mistaken though.

Seriously... Until such time as you post some pics of the "actual" Kit.. including some close ups of lugs and fittings... this is all just speculation.. no one really knows what you have...

Cheers
