Ya know, I've had them off before but was never able to tell if there was wrap underneath the re-wrap. I'll have to really take a good look. I feel the wrap may have been removed, but I'm not 100%. I think I'm gonna grab the 13" tom and take some photos of it now. I'll get the lugs off and get an inside / outside shot of the drum.

Look at the 1965 Swingstar No. S-5DX model. Looks like it could have that square mount on the BD for the tom mount. I say Star because the cymbal mount off the BD looks very Star to me.
Now, I am not suggesting that it is a '65 Swingstar, because the FT leg mounts do not indicate that. I'm just saying that it may be a Star made kit.
Hard to say without more pics of his actual kit. Remember that this pic in the OP is not his actual kit.
Also, do a thorough search on all the hardware. Many times Pearl would say "Pearl" on something.....and sometimes even on the underside/belly of a lug or mount if I recall correctly.
But the description of the shell thickness, and the P inside the shell....really has me wondering if it was a real deal Slinger. Perhaps years ago when you painted the shell interiors, you did not know any better to identify it as a Slinger. Was that before you started your education here at the sch....I mean forum ;)
Yes it was. I just said to my friend who took the photos of the 13" that my older self would halt my younger self from doing this. I know when I bought the drums that in the description the seller said they could be american made and not MIJ's. The floor tom and bass drum have three reinforcement rings. The 13" just has the two. I'll get to the bass drum and floor tom tomorrow.
Sorry if the photos aren't the best, camera phone.
I looked through all the holes and can't see any sign of the original wrap being underneath this wrap. Whoever did this did a good job.
My bass drum has the 0922 lugs on it.
I gotta admit though, looking at those older Star catalogs, it could very well be a Star kit. That mount on the bass drum is certainly the one my bass drum came with. When I had gotten the kit, the re-wrap covered the original holes on the outside and they weren't filled in on the inside of the shell. Curios though as to why the P was stamped inside. Was that common on Star kits to indicate the wrap to be used?
The "P" was used by Slingerland... And the BD mount looks like the one in the link

Hmmmm Perhaps I did get myself some Slingerlands and wasn't aware based on the lugs being MIJ's. I want to say that somewhere ( and man I need to dig ) I have photos from when I first got the kit. I think I even have inside shots before I painted the insides white ( dumb dumb dumb now looking back )
That would be awesome though if this actually a Slingerland kit. But regardless of it's true identity I love it and the way it sounds. Always have.
BTW - Thanks guys. Seriously you're all the best.
Something else that is coming to mind is this. On the inside of the drums where the grommet would be, the inner wood has the damage you would expect to find when removing properly installed grommets. Not the typical MIJ ones that could easily be popped out. I'll try and get photos of that as well.
Seriously a tad mad at myself for having painted the interiors of these all those years ago. Thankfully I didn't go to town with a drill and start adding my own mounts.
