Well I have now wet sanded through to very fine then novus 3 and 2 with a gentle electric buffer. It looks great. Not perfect but much better, with much of the yellow removed. What do you think? It was quite yellowed before. It’s shiny now but not really shiny. I wondering how to get a really good shine. More buffing with carnuba car wax? What do you guys do to get a real shine. Thanks!

Wow that looks pretty damn good I'd say. Yellowing of oyster black has never bothered me too much unless it looks dull. I have seen some sets where they lost a lot of that three dimensional pop. I also understand how it could be frustrating to have a set where only one drum is yellowed. I'm a tad OCD that way and that would bug me. I would love to see the process you are using done to a yellowed set of WMP Ludwigs. I love Ludwig WMP but I prefer it when it is really white. If not I would only like the yellowing if all the pieces looked the same.
I picked up a 1966 WMP clubdate a few years ago and scored the whole thing for $400. I kind of kick myself for selling it but it was all different shades of yellow. The snare looked the best, the bass and floor tom were pretty close with a fair amount of yellow and the 8x12 was really yellow. I would be curious to know how a process like yours would have treated the yellow on those. Unfortunately they are long gone.
Just gave it a serious buffing on one panel with novus 2 and the gentle mini buffer. 10 minutes continuos buffing. Really shiny and looks great. That’s what it needs...
It’s my other BoP kit by the way. A 57 WFL. I’m lucky to have two of these wonderful kits.
Try 2000 wet sand as that’s the trick than 2300 compound than 300 finish buff
And final little glaze I guarantee brand new trust me that little glaze will even work now all from auto parts store

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
