Ha ha. It definitely still looks like black oyster. Can’t see the blue on my screen. Lol
Wrap Fading 1964 Ludwig
I think you're nuts if you try anything that may damage that wrap. That's a nice kit, leave it alone.
Don’t worry I’m being very careful and gradual. I love these drums and would do nothing to harm them. I’m using laser measurement equipment to ensure I don’t go too far on the top surface. In real life it looks great. It’s just taken some of the yellow off and has brightened the wrap without using chemicals.
Wait, That`s not Oyster Blue on that BD ?

The drum from another angle. I think there was some blue in the light in the other pic. Definitely black oyster, even the lightly rubbed part.
Ok that`s better,...yes I can still see the difference.

Thanks Oddball. Appreciated.
Damn! That's a beautiful wrap! Gotta give Ringo a lotta credit--there were a bunch of choices, & he picked a beauty. Your kit's gonna look sweet....marko
Man, genuine first generation oyster black is absolutely magical. I never get tired of seeing it. I still remember looking at this photo below and being completely enamored with the finish as a kid. There's a nice version of it in the Anthology book where the silver really pops. I read that thing cover to cover.
Currently looking for a 3-ply 24x14 Ludwig in champagne sparkle w/rail consolette and cymbal mount!
Beautiful.
