Would You Sell Your Soul?

Loading...

Okay, let's say the devil went down to Georgia and he was willing to make a deal. If he offered you any modern kit, any make, any wrap any customizing you could wish for in exchange for your vintage kit, no matter what make, would you trade? Remember, like me, you have probably spent hundreds of dollars and hundreds of hours on your babies. Personally, at least twice a year, I take each drum of my old seven piece Star kit apart for a complete inspection. Every washer every bolt every t-rod every bit of all hardware is cleaned, polished, waxed and re-assembled. Every square inch of wrap is cleaned and waxed. Everything must be pristine before it is put back together. Q-tips and tooth picks are a must. I'm sure you guys are the same. Would you trade? Would you spit in the devils face?

I've actually done that, I once traded a blue oyster pearl Ludwig Club Date for a GMS kit in a gorgeous champagne sparkle finish. The GMS kit was about ten years old and in mint condition. I believe it had a 10, 12, 14, 22, I took it to Rockin Robin in Houston and traded it for a clean WFL kit in black diamond pearl with a matching snare.

Sell your soul?

Reminds me of an joke about a couple trying to get a handle on one of their offspring's future vocation.

They laid out a Bible ,a shot of whiskey and a $20 dollar bill.

If the kid picked up the Bible ,preacher, took a shot of whiskey ,drunk ,took the money, thief.

The kid picked up the Bible ,drank the shot of whiskey ,took the $20 bucks.

The parents were appalled ,a politician.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Everything has it's price and everything is for sale. That's my motto. I don't have too much sentimental attachment to material possessions. There are some thing I do regret selling though.

Nein! Just the look on the other musicians at a gig 2 years ago, when I brought out my yellow Trixons was worth everything. It was a nightmare gig due to idiots hired to be"soundmen" but were worthless. Otherwise the drums were the hit of the day.If I had new drums it would have been a total wipeout.........
