I'd choose the Barrett Deems model because it has a direct association to a famous drummer of that era. Also, it's blue sparkle and there are many blue sparkle drum sets out there. I Also prefer the 5.5" wood Ludwig snare drums because I have a 5.5" Pioneer and I love it. I'm not that partial to deeper snare drum sounds. Also, it might be my bad eyes, but it looks like the Contest might have some replaced lugs (one looks like it might be nickel and the one next to it looks chrome....but I won't swear to that!)

I'm not sure I'd pay that much for either one, though. Not much profit margin at that price -especially these days.

I'm with O-Lugs on this! The Blue Sparkle Barrett Deems all day long! From the one angle, everything appears original. Can't say the same for the Concert snare drum. I'm also not a fan of deeper snare drums. Not that there's anything wrong with them, but I've just never been a fan. The asking price for the Barrett Deems snare drum is more than reasonable!

Ditto, the blue BD for the same reasons, I'm not a fan of solid colors, the BD snare looks to be in better condition and the deeper snare may have less interest in the market place when the time comes to part with it.

I'd go with the blue BD too. I think you would like it very much. I'm with the other guys, the 5.5 sounds much better. I think 325$ is fair, but you could always offer a lit'l lower price, least they could do is say no. I think 325$ is good tho. good luck with either decision.

How about offering the seller a bundle priced offer for both with a price that would be in your favor. Try them both for awhile, then put one up for sale?

I still would go for the blue BD 'cause that one I would be happy with longer than the contest model. But it's you who must make the decision and have to live with it.
