What's the OLDEST drum SET?

Yes, I mean the first "official" drum SET that was sold as such by a company. That's why I referred to the Ludwig company name in my OP. And I also specifically said a sit-down drum set played with both hands and feet.

One would have to be sitting down.

And just FYI....I sometimes just throw topics out there in order to generate discussions that might answer the question (or not) but might generate interaction among the members here.

Not necessarily, I suppose.

*funny mental picture of a guy playing with both hands and feet and NOT sitting down*

I believe William Ludwig played a drum set of Leedy drums, w/ a cumbersome pedal, which spurred him on to create the pedal which made him famous.

Okay...I 'll change the question to this:

"What is the oldest SIT-DOWN (hands and feet) drum set sold by a company?"

:)

The evolution of the drum set is one of my favorite topics. But, like many inventions, credit is given to the person who mass produces , & markets it the best, & has very little to do w/ original invention. Ludwig may have produced the best pedal, & made the first catalog entry, but that is merely a reflection of decades of previous innovation. I'm not sure of the merits of who made the first official catalog picture.
