This forum used to be very active and confrontational, which is what I loved about it, but now it seems like it has one foot in the grave as they say..Is this place being transferred over to face book or has it taken its last breath..like Drumsmith, that finally exhausted itself?...thankfully.
Whats happened here?

Not confrontational enough? Let's talk politics! :)
"Politics"?...The world will be talking politics in a month or so if a certain someone gets "the job"...good luck America.
... and please allow me to weigh in here! ...
VM2K is correct! It's ebb and flow, but ... Wayne you are also correct! I have seen a large migration over to FB as there are SO MANY groups, pages, discussions, and on just about ANY subject matter! I see a LOT of our members on FB. Heck, I finally bit the bullet and set up a FB page last March myself ... even though I basically loathe social media. Unfortunately, THAT is here to stay... so I had to get on board to keep the music and drums moving forward with regard to gigs, sales, Buddy, you name it! The VDF is still here though!, and David and I THANK all you stalwarts for staying and keeping this functioning as one of the nicest drum forums .. and specifically VINTAGE drum forums ... on the net!

VDF is a well run place, you can tell by the tone of the members. You have also banned/removed, certain well known trouble makers who unfortunately are still allowed to advertise and carry on with their immaturity on one popular forum, which I removed myself from.
Forums may be on the decline, but most drummers will always appreciate a place to chat with players with similar interests. I have learned so much about this industry, I look forward to regular visits hoping for more knowledge. Some of the people on here amaze me by how much they know, and I'm thankful they share it with us!Clapping Happy2
VDF is like the cabin in the country where drummers go to visit and reflect. A place to get away from it all (ie Facebook craziness...)
That's a good way to look at it. I sense we are older players here which is obvious I suppose due to the vintage vibe here. I grew tired of the chaos and over zealous situations. There is a positive side to forums but there is always the problematic individual. Actually, I was one of those A holes that blew a fuse when a certain low life slithered in for his show. I was the one getting slapped on the wrist for acting out, that's when I said "its been fun"
Forums need members posting to remain revelant. I don't like it is all FB now. Can't do a real search and I don't have all day to read about what folks have had for lunch. Regret have not posted update's to my projects but there just haven't been any. Work is the worse 4 letter word :-)
