Okay, I always seem to pass deals up. But I don't like buying of ebay if i want to buy something I like tosee. So, heres the thing I need to know all of your secrets of finding vintage Ludwigs, Gretsch, etc. Help me out. Craigslist is all I got.

EBay and there's also a guy named Bill who runs a place called http://www.classicvintagedrums.com. He's also a member here. He alsways has really nice clean stuff.

Columbus Pro Percussion has an absolutely beautiful Purple Moire Camco, w/white Oaklawn badges for sale right now. They also have a BDP Slingerland kit that needs a little work but would be nice (cheap) ... and a natural finish round badge Gretsch kit with a 2 month old "hold tag" on it that looks pretty good. Those guys are very upfront and honest... their whole goal is customer loyalty.

What do you think these are worth.All original.

Patience - Time - Luck

There is no longer a sure way to find this stuff. It used to be the old vintage guys would take a truck across country visiting spots and buying drums as they went along. They went to flee markets, mom and pop shops and shops they knew would have gear.

Those days are long gone with the Internet, plus a lot more vintage guys then 20 years ago of course. So you and every other vintage collector is looking.

I have heard putting ads in local papers, signs up at grocery stores and your local word of mouth might help.

Most of it is being at the right place at the right time... Let me reflect on my two best deals....

1. Slingerland 20,14,12 w/matching snare in blue agate - $60 (Student was selling it)

2. WMP Gretsch Complete set with cymbals stands and original receipt for $250 (Sitting in a closet most of its life, not even a nick on the bass drum hoops! and made the offer of $250 and his response was "That much"

Hey...it was a BDP. They aren't as sweet as WMP. Just trying to make you feel a bit better. Hope this helped.

If it's all the same, about 6 months ago I missed a 63-64 Gold Sparkle (my fave) Jazz WITH A 400 COB, all hardware, and cymbals on the stands. It was right down the road in one of the local music stores (Hot Springs Music - deals in used guitars). The owner (a friend) would have let me have it for less than a grand (over time!!!). I passed because it wasn't 22,13,16 sizes. KICK KICK KICK KICK KICK

The snare sold for ~$900 on ebay. The kit went off to England for ~$1200. No idea what the cymbals and stands went for. Didn't have the heart to ask.

These drums were in serious mint condition.

I live in the largest gated community in the country. This is retirement central. This old drummer put down the sticks and sold it off. This actually happens fairly often out here. I watch and I watch and I watch these days. I have a special "drum account" now...just in case.
