If this project motivates even a few guys to look for and save some of these beautiful old musical instruments, then the project will have accomplished a much higher goal than even I had in mind initially. I have a feeling that it did get some more guys motivated and hopefully this will keep more sets together with original wraps etc . Just a bit a patience and determination goes a long way in restoring these beautiful instruments .

The 14" was meant to be side-mounted on the bass drum, but that would put the tom in an awkward position for me, so I opted for the 2-down set-up. Not 'traditional' I'll admit, but it'll be a much more playable set-up for a modern player like myself. The drums are coming out great and I'm really excited to assemble them and take them for a spin.

Beautiful job you did on those tacked heads. That wrap looks brand new also. Wonderful stuff. I'll bet you're going to smile like a kid on Xmas when you get to sit down and play this beauty.

Question: do you roll the skin under and double it up for the tacks?
Or is it just cut off and you let the single layer edge lie where it may.
I don't see any crinkling or wavering on the skin edge.
