Those loc washers in Stainless steel will run you about ten dollars and would be worth the investment.

One note on white vinegar never put cast parts in, ive done it, it eats em alive. Only brass steel etc. Tension rods and washers chuck em in for approx 2 days. Rusty washers nuts bolts anything thats bad rust chuck em in for 2 days empty then repeat. I then spin em on a drill to bring them up like new. Sometimes they look pitted but once cleaned up they maintain the originality original.

Another trick is to cover the parts with baking soda after the vinegar soak. This stops the acid in the vinegar going too far. Then use a toothbrush to clean it off. I learnt that trick here, can't remember who it was though. Works a treat too, so thanks Whoever That Was!

Ive made a note of the baking soda .....Thanks. The actual washers are in good nik like to keep as original as i can. I once threw a cast part of a cymbal stand top in white vinegar hahahahaha it dissolved it. With steel i dont have any probs. I love the red ketchup on cymbals it is the best cleaner ive ever had....Thanks for the input guys much appreciated..

A few more pics guys. One thing to remember the interior workings were fine but a lot of rust and corrosion. All parts shown are original and each nut bolt washer etc etc has been cleaned with a lot of patience.

Great work. This drum is a great piece of craftsmanship. Pretty astounding really. It's giving me an appreciation for Premier.

Hi Guys some more pics. One thing about this drum is it works as good now as it did in the early 30's. Each of the snare wires on the bottom are spring loaded at both ends something that drum companys of today just dont do. I know that some of todays drums of basic design do look and sound great. But since owning a drum like this i appreciate the level to which premier and ludwig plus all the others went to in the early days. I will be doing a sound file of this remarkable drum once assembled. It will be posted on VDF first as i know that all the true drum collectors etc hang out......sean

PS The pics show the backing screws with original loc washers all were rusty but now woooow. The tissue has some wd40 on it as i sparayed them. The lugs some slightly pitted with bubble chrome. The brass inserts and springs all original. Great craftsmanship.

As you can see each wire has a small spring each end then a brass clip to hold in place. These dominion ace's normally have wires missing its rare to get one with both original sets on the drum. I normally put new wires on most drums but on this there is no need plus the length would i think be hard to find. The top wires on batter head is missing one wire so ill put a new one of the same gauge on as i carry lots of different vintage wires. Thanks....sean....PS One small thought the springs on each end are very strong yet very small. You know the vintage wires were thin and these springs fit round the wire with enough room for manoeuvre.
