I presume "kind" as in material. B8, B15, B20, etc. A Zildjians are B20.
B20 can lose its temper very easily (not that it gets angry) when it is heated. I've been warned off even 150 degrees C. When it loses temper (or untempered early in the production stage) B20 shatters if hit. If the temper is partially lost in a small area (along the edge of the repair) there is a weakened region because you now have two materials with different properties. Traditional wisdom is that longevity is compromised and the sound is changed.
