Welcome

It's difficult/ impossible to judge without pics: the overall condition is essential for a quote!

This is likely the Pipper. I have an almost identical drum----dates from sometime around '60 or before. What is that chrome thing hanging off the the left? Is that a muffler of some kind , someone has put on there or a mount?

Depending on what that is and how seriously it has impacted the shell the drum would vary quite a bit in it's value.

So this is an add on damper from Tama, probably. Those are interesting dampers because ,when they work well , they combine the features of an adjustable and a quick on damper. Unfortunately, I think it will detract from the value of your drum. The drum has ,intrinsic vintage value as an original drum but if there have been new holes drilled to accomodate the damper( for sure), then it has been altered---which isn't good.

These are really good drums. They have cast hoops and a really great tone if headed properly and set up with the right wires. Have you considered keeping it as a player?----and building a kit around it?

I don't think it's worth much more than 150.00 local or 100.00 as a shipped drum. That's if everything else is o.k.

Hah! That's the STAR (or early Tama's) 'one touch tone control' damper! But only if one side of the 'side wings' are ripped. If both sides are even, it's a much later copy done by Gibraltar.

I guess it's a Gibraltar one (due to the slant position). Star ones stay mainly in the horizontal position (both in 'ON' or 'OFF' position).

wasn't sure on those. I had what appeared to be a Tama stencil kit , about 2 years ago-----4 drums and a Pearl snare----- and all the drums except the bass had those but there were at least 3 different versions of them. Some had a nylon clutch, some had a metal clutch, some had a triangular mount some had a square mount.

I can't remember the name of the kit---perhaps Asama or something like that. They looked to be from the 80s. I found out it was a brand popular in Greece or Macedonia or somewhere in that neck of the olive grove.

------------ later; I decided to look them up and I'm not so sure they are anybody's stencils. Could this have been a small independent company? Asama is apparently the name of a volcano in Japan.

Here's the muffler anyway and a pretty elaborate deep snare.http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/22/1001697.jpg/
