Yes I did, it did not come with a snare but still, I could not drive fast enough to the sellers house. They took a lot of cleaning and I actually re-wrapped the 16 with new polished stainless steel, the others were good enough. They sound very good with Emperor batters and Ambassador resonate heads, both coated.

Okay! ... here's mine!

1967/68 Fibes COF in Buddy Rich sizes/build, and built by Bob Grauso right after building Buddy's Fibes set in late 1966/67. These are the 2nd Fibes badged drums, but still pre CFMartin ownership, and built completely by hand to ORDER. Kind of rare to find a set of this year in the BR sizes and configuration! The snare drum is one of the very FIRST 10 lug Fibes 690 SFT/COF in that it still has the prototype throw and 2nd butt piece, both still PRE full production throw/butt. I've never seen another in this build! The drums were in pretty nice condition as found .. but .. it took me 6 weeks of working on them every day to restore them to what you see here, including the interiors and ALL fasteners. I put my 1965 Rogers Buddy Rich Celebrity's aside and started playing/gigging these in May. They play/sound incredible! Very focused in timbre, yet quite warm with the pinpoint projection of fiberglass. Hope you enjoy!

THANKS Dave! They are pretty rare in this year/build and configuration. I was freaked when I saw them as Buddy's Fibes were only played/visible for a 6 month period in 1967. So short that many guys didn't know he even played a full Fibes set back in 1967. His affinity for the Fibes SFT 690/COF snare drum is well known however as he played that particular drum off and on from 1966 to 1977!

I can understand the infatuation for the snare drums.

I have 2 and thanks to your assistance I was able to rehab the original strainer on the 5x14 snare. The original strainer is really starting to grow on me!

The 6 x 14 snare is really nice too!

I just need to do them justice by working with my copy of George Stone's "Stick Control" book.

You did a nice job on your combination Tempus/Fibes set! Regarding Fibes SFT 690/COF snare drums:

I have three: 1966/67 BR model ... 1967/68 prototype 10 lug ... and a 1973 full production BR model. By my research, Buddy played at least FIVE different Fibes snare drum in the period between 1966 and 1977 .. and .. covering all four badge changes in that time! The most well known for Buddy would be the 1971/1973 though, as that production model is the one that was shown in full color on the cover of "Rich in London" while he was still with Slingerland. That did not go over so well with Don Osborn Sr. who was president of Slingerland Drum Co. at the time! Anyway, I play the 1967/68 10 lug prototype a LOT! ... but they all play/sound great!
