Hey! It was the Mel Lewis owned infamous Turkish K with the pieces out of it that sounded like a million $.
I have heard about it a few times, never seen a pic........
(I am sure some are scratching their heads going ........"Mel who?"....)

Slight correction:
Not a K.
It's a 20" Avedis transitional stamp. The famous one with the cut-outs that Buddy Rich proclaimed to be: "the best cymbal I've ever heard".
" Obviously".... If you can find a video with the correct cymbal. I'm Not  Please post it. Thanks
I don't have a video, but I do have the next best thing. That would be a this photo of Mel playing with "the Dream Band", viewed along with a soundfile of the same playing this very cymbal. Using your imaginations you can "see" the band memebers playing and moving right along with the music as you listen:

SOUNDFILE BELOW....SO CLICK ON IT:

Can't get it to load.... hum a few bars?
I just did one better than that.
I e-mailed the soundfile to you. And I will do the same for anyone else who may not be able to open the link. I hope that most will be able to.
Be sure to listen to it while your viewing the picture.
i got an early 60's 20" avedis ride. its prob the best A i've ever played. i paid like $100 or something for it..i would never sell it.
