John I agree with you.

You're right that I wasn't thinking about recouping my investment on a resale at this time for sure. I only posted this to be up-front with the investment for those that may be interested in such things.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the 'recreation of an iconic drum kit' - I never thought of it like that but ya...you can't do this with 6ply shells...as nice as they are.

It was a bit of a search to bring all these little orphans together. I even gave up on finding the exact snare shell (as mentioned above) and had one special made for the project. It was like fate finally finding it. Will Tillman emailed me that the drum was ready to be shipped about the same time I found the 'real deal' on eBay. I have a nice undrilled 3ply Gretsch-like Will Tillman shell for a future project.

Gary - how much you are into them isn't even an issue. They're yours and they are going to be yours, it's not about how much profit can be realized on a re-sale. It would only matter to someone like me who sells drums for income. As a keeper-kit, it's a gem and a rare one at that. Don't kid yourself, I think you'd be surprised how fast your money would come back to you if you did decide to sell them. I don't think you'd lose a dime.Awesome recreation of an iconic drum kit. Well done, and money well-spent!:2Cents:John
