The Cadi Green 3ply Gretsch shells R coming together

Loading...

Gary - I -LOVE- projects like this one. It's how I got my Oaklawn Camco's. Can't wait to see how these come out. Caddy green is as classy a color as they come. I always wanted to do what you're doing now, creating a 50's 3-ply caddy green kit. I send you all the drum mojo I have. Keep posting photos as the project progresses. Big fun looking over your shoulder on this one!

Beer and pizza right about now would make the moment perfect!

John

John - I feel honoured (Canadian spelling) that you're looking over my shoulder on this one. Thanks.

I too am watching your Merlot kit. Over 4000 views.....sheeesh! Lots of interest there man - and no wonder! Great work - I'm looking forward to seeing your kit all finished and set up.

As far as my kit finished..............it will be a while. The $1500-$2000 Gold Plating job will be a while down the road I think....unless I come into some extra pocket money in the near future. There's always a way to get this stuff done....even if I have to get my wife a third job.

The painter invided me over to take a look at the shells. He has a bit more work to do. He's primered the hoops....says he will finish everything by the weekend. He paints cars and this will be his first drum shell paint job.

The last photo is a little dark but it's close to how the drum looks. I'm very happy so far with what he's done.

My sentiments precisely! What a great color. That kit is going to be the BOMB when you're done with it. Nicely done...

Thanks guys!

About the hoops:

The painter had some concerns because of a few nicks here and there - little splits as well. I told him the hoops are 60yrs old and I don't care if there are some areas that are not perfect. Please paint them the best you can - I will happily live with warts and all. This was all through his wife interpreting - he's from France and does not speak English. He just smiled and nodded in the affirmative. The hoops will look nice I'm sure. He's doing them today and he also has some more polishing/buffing to do on the shells. Should be picking them up Thur or Fri.
