like i promised...here some pics of the restored set!
I hope you enjoy it:-)
Looking great. How do they sound?
Great looking set, Christian!
Interestingly enough, I just scored a 1982 Imperialstar kit in the exact same sizes as yours, although mine are wrapped in black. Mine sound fantastic, and I'm sure yours do as well. Like you, I scored a slammin' deal. $218 US which included shipping from Guitar Center Used Online.
These are the ultimate gigging drums... the metal bass drum hoops, the wrapped finish and the zola-coat interiors all make for some of the most rugged and durable drums I've ever seen and played.
Enjoy! Here's a pic of mine at rehearsal tonight.
Cheers,
Ryan

@shortyedwards
the sound amazing, really fat Rocksound i have "converted Pinstripe" on the Toms so they are really low but still nice singing;-) Bassdrum hast a Evans E-Mad the kick is like a a bomb :-) good kick with a huge low end.
I am absolutly happy with this new set!
@rculberson
cool set for an exellent price that you have there, black looks also cool!
Did you get it with the hardware and the cymbals?
regards;-)
Pardon my ignorance but....how do lugs...go missing?
I ask because I would have thought the lugs would be tensioned down so someone would have to physically separate them from the Drum?
They where not missing but there were 4 lugs from Sonor on the Set:-) and i put originals on it again;-)!

Thanks, Christian!
Just the drums and the mounting hardware (floor tom legs, double tom mount)... nothing else was included in the sale.
Really nice drums, congrats! I sold a similar set a while ago. I was kinda sad to see it go.
I have a 1980 Tama Imperialstar set that I picked up off craigslist for 175. They were in mint condition, having never left the original owners house. He even included the catalog and original bill of sale. The set is a Tama Mars Mega 50 kit, 24-13-14-18 in black. I added a 16 floor tom and like to play it one up, two down. I agree with what has been said already, an amazing sounding rock kit that is bullet proof. I am surprised that they don't command a higher resale price. They originally cost $799 plus tax in 1980 dollars. Great for a pro gigging drummer on a budget, or one who doesn't want to have the really pricey stuff out in clubs subject to damage or theft. I love the sound of them.
