John, et al...

While I was out for the Chicago Drum Show, David and I had many conversations about the VDF, where it all started, where it has gone, and where it's going. Included in those chats were discussions about some of the "brush fires" that seem to start between a select group of guys, and for whatever reason. There are just personalities that are NOT going to mesh. Not placing blame here on any ONE person as being the culprit .. but .. the cast is almost always the same when you read the credits! That being said, we have no choice but to be less tolerant, and even more so when there is a thread/post that is just going to INVITE incendiary responses! That said...

... John's post, while impassioned, explanatory, and quite eloquent, would have served no purpose other than to once again supply the spark that gets the fire going, although I know that was NOT his intention. What a metaphor! Anyway, where I DO understand WHY you felt the need to write that... the guys that are your friends are going to be nodding their heads in agreement, and the guys that aren't your friends are going to be shaking theirs... and here we go, we're off and running! Indeed.

So, we must really try to keep the focus here, although all of you know that I am quite easy on what is allowed! These types of posts though, really only serve to crank up the arguments and disagreements, while changing no one's mind one way or the other. THANK YOU for all of your continued support and understanding, and for being some of the BEST people ever on a public forum!

A huge plus one

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Ah!, well... with a slight EDIT and an added "ed".. ( which I just did ) .. you will now know that John's post was removed, and for the very reasons that I mentioned. As to the others that have commented... THANK YOU too for your understanding!

Tommy - There is only a handful of individuals who continue to perpetuate the lie that I was banned from DFO for being a drug dealer. I understand your peace keeping attempt, but you have removed my attempt to set the record straight and tell my side of it. It took me a long while to compose that message that you wiped out with a single click. As long as the lie is allowed to stand unanswered, they will continue to do it. Your edit has made it easier for them, you are facilitating future confrontations. I'm genuinely disappointed that you chose to edit my post. I intended to put an end to the lies and to their ability to spread the lie. Now I'm back to square one. Silenced by you. Am I supposed to thank you for that?

Please... re-post my my message (unedited!) and leave it up long enough for the membership to read it. I'm not asking for a lot and I really feel like I've earned the accommodation with my contributions to this site. Lock it down so no one can add comments. Let it stand as is, a statement of truth. Your call.

John
