I have a 10-lug Stewart steel snare and I only know of one other that I have seen, so I would guess that they are [I]somewhat[I] rare, but as Retrosonic indicates, it would almost have to be new in the box to be quite that price.

Mine has some finish issues like minor pitting, the usual..., but otherwise it plays well and holds it's tuning fairly well. You can crank it up alot tighter than a 6 lug if you're so inclined....

I always assess these type of things as, "how bad do I need/want it?"

1985 Tama Superstar piano black (original owner)
85-86 Tama Superstar piano white
early 60's Trixon Luxus champagne
mid 60's Star WMP
early 70's Star 'silky blue'
early 70's Stewart metallic blue
early 70's Stewart psychedelic lava pearl
late 60's Coronet bronze strata
late 60's Coronet blue diamond pearl
2004 Arbiter Flats Pro
early 70's Stewart Fantasia pearl
early 70's Star blue satin flame
early 70's Star jet black double kick kit

$ 300 would be a bit too high.

But I assume that that snare drum has a parallel strainer and is equal in the construction to my King Beat snare drums from Star (10 lugs plus a very heavy shell). Of course, Star also made relatively cheap and ordinary snare drums. But the one I'm talking about is the model Stuart Copeland used during the first Police album.

Wrong drum Ralf. The one im referring to is an actual Stewart drum, not a Star or Tama. However this drum could be the first incarnation of good things to come a few years later.

Stewart was part of the big Star family, as discussed often here previously.

Any pics available?

I,ll try and figure out how to do pics, but this one does not say "world supreme quality",but just Stewart made in Japan. It has the Star throwoff from that period so its likely the beginning of something.

Here are the two different badges I know from Stewart (sorry for the small sized pics):

Perhaps not odd. I didn't claim that Stewart used either the one or the other badge, only ... ;)

I would like to add a pic of your's to my 'collection' of Star/ Star family badges ...
