Star made Sorento snare

Loading...

Hello MIJ folks

Yesterday I found a Star made red sparkle snare drum

with a Sorento badge on it

I have a ton of red sparkle stuff already but I was excited to find a seldom seen Sorento badge so I went for it

After making the deal I was looking at the pics once again

and quite clearly there is what looks like a floor tom leg bracket mounted to the shell

I do not know how I missed it beforehand but I did

The snare comes with a mij folding stand so I was wondering if in the case of those little stand alone snare drum outfits

if it could be possible that the bracket was factory installed to accommodate a cymbal arm or some other percussion accessory?

I have seen the snare drum outfits with a cymbal arm and small cymbal attached to the stand but not the drum itself ...?

Def Star. I've seen a cymbal mount like that on newer student snares ( brands like WJM, etc.. ) So I could have been a snare kit for maybe an Elementary school? Wouldn't be very surprised, I know these companies did make school & marching drums. Not as common for us to see, but they did.

Found it! - 1966 Star Catalog has the snare with the cymbal mount on it for students. There we have it.

No worries man, again just too many names! I think between a few of us we probably have 80% of them. I dare not say higher as once in a while a new one emerges from the depths of someone's basement.
