Is anyone familiar with this "different" Star butt plate. I'll describe it since I cant take pictures. It is from a vintage round badge, chrome Star snare. Probably late sixties to early seventies. The plate is attached to the shell by two vertical holes about 7/8 inches apart. The actual snare plastic ribbon attaches to the lower part of the plate in the conventional manner with two screws. This lower plate slides onto an upper. Both are connected with a screw on the mounts. A wheel through which the screw is threaded serves to turn it to loosen or tighten the wires. Also on the screw, there is a bolt that can also be adjusted. To be honest, I can't determine why it is there. This is almost like having a double strainer. The snare is equipped with a typical Star strainer of the ere. I know this is a difficult question to answer with no pictures but, I I know some of you guys are true experts!. I have searched but, to no avail. Oh! I have an identical Star snare with just a conventional butt plate. Thanks very much, guys!
