Sonor teardrop in red sparkle - help needed

From hemelsoet

Did you try to adjust the "lever" system. It has two, kind of, flat little cilinders with a little srew on top. These must be in the right position, right and left side the same. It's a little hard to explain, but if you turn the little screws loose, you'll see what i mean.

I think I know what you mean, but it doesn't help. It almost seems as if the strainer mechanism was mounted too close to snare side - just a 0.25" higher would help.

That strainer goes on deep shells too. The cam is what adjusts the fix you are looking for. That is if I understand you correctly.

Why does your spring cross the cam plate ?

In your last fix pic it looks like the slide block is hitting the hoop. That would stop it from traveling any further. Did you leave out a spacer ?

I`m just throwing Q`s at ya that I see in the pics.

My spring crosses the cam plate because I didn't have the original short spring. I had to use a longer one and to mount it to the other side of the cam so it would tighten.

The whole mechanism works, when I turn the lever, the cam slides, and grabs onto the central rod, just as it is shown in this video

but the strainer just doesn't touch the head, however I tqueak those flat-headed screw on both ends of strainer mechanism. Both butts are in their final position, everything obviously works, except it doesn't.

EDIT: The slide block isn't hitting the hoop. Just a wrong camera angle, I guess.

On the inside square tube with the travel slot cut in it, that looks like a separate plate with the mount holes at right angles. Does that flip around and would it give more travel space ?

Have the edges been re-cut ?

If you loosen all four mount screws, will the whole thing(bottom plate) slide up towards the batter head ?

I dismantled one end of the mechanism. There's no way I could move it more towards the batter head.

Im slowly starting to lean towards the possibility that edges have been re-cut. This should be a 5" drum, but it's more like 4.5". Edges look great, though, snare beds are there, and everything!

So then the only possibility of making it work is moving the mechanism, thus drilling new holes and longer cut-outs for the sliding ends.
