Nice kit, looks like it was the highlight of the show...

By the way... Great documentation on your restoration process. I certainly can see the wait and cost of the plating process really was worth it in the end. I hope you sent a few pics back to the plating company so that the got a chance to enjoy their work and see how they enhanced the project.

Wow brings back memories. . I used to own a set of these in red stain. Hardware and all bought it new at the PASIC show in 91. I always wondered how the damn hardware worked ! ! ! I had HW for a 22 and wanted to make an 18. . So the Allen screw is inside and the mounting screw goes on top of it thru the shell. . . cool. . Really really nice . . . yikes I re-wrapped mine in champ sparkle . . . http://www.jamminsam.com/champagne_pink_on_drums_2.htm

scroll down to the second pic.. . . You did a great job. . please submit this thread on the sonormuseum web site the geeks will go NUTS !!!!

Joep: Youre a credit to Vintage Drum Restoration. :)

As another poster said, these drums arent my cup of tea either (I'm a 60s guy) but you did a Herculean job on them and you deserve alot of credit.

As a young drummer, I remember in the early 70s when Sonor came on the scene. None of us had ever seen anything like the Sonor hardware. It was built stronger and better than anything we had ever seen.

Congrats again, and enjoy your beautiful work!

@Oddball

Thanks. The T-rods are like that just for the pics. It's a show, it has to look nice ;)

@Joeyboom,

I've already posted it on the sonormuseum froum of course. I've been a member there for a few years now. I am a Sonor addict, so that's my home away from home :)

@Retrosonic:

Yes, it's built to last for sure. I weighed the hardware case (without pedals and throne) and it was 65 kg. I already thought it was quite heavy when I dragged it upstairs to the attic...

@Hoppy

Thanks. Maybe I'll send them a few pics, don't know if they really care though.

Joep. I think you did a fantastic job. The end result is truely remarkable. Just simply beautiful pairing the copper with the white. I enjoyed the the journey from beginning to end very much. . . .James

Maybe it's just nostalgia on my part, but I love the copper hardware. The copper/white combo is really fantastic. Amazing project, such dedication really impresses me.

Great work on the restoration!

Makes me realise that my Hilite Exclusive hardware is never going look like new again, a lot of it is pretty messed up. Copper hardware looks great, but its a bit impractical when used as a regular gig hardware, stuff gets scratched up really easily, unless of course you wrap up each piece of hardware individually like a baby! Not to mention the weight of the stuff!

Hi Joeb. Fantastic job on the restoration. Do you have a contact name/address/number for the company that replated your hardware? Thanks Paul.
