Looks like you have put some time and effort in detailing and maintenance.
Yes, no one sees the hard work. Most of the old drums were in very poor condition.
But you learn a lot during restore, for example tuning. I think I tunend hundreds of drums in recent years. Drumheads and tuning have the greatest influence on the sound of a drum. 10 years ago I had absolutely no idea.
Did you order your Legacys with sharp bearing edges? Mine came with a rounded edge
Only the racktoms were recut. This was done in a shop in New York.
First, it has 10 and 12 toms. I missed the 13" tom. On Ebay I bought a 13" 3-ply shell from the 70ties. This was rewrapped in champage sparkle, the original Legacy finish. And also the bearing edges recut to 45 degrees. You hear no difference between the old and the new shells. A very, very good sounding drum kit.
Little explanation: I'm not a collector. I have always bought a lot, restored and then sold again. Currently I still have the Stainless Steel and the wmp Big Beat. I had to sell some drums, I'm saving for a motorcycle roadtrip in the states next year.
I'm still searching a 16 or 18" Stainless Steel floortom, can someone help me?
