Nice work! How are you planning on finishing the drum? Stain? Wrap?

Thanks!

I will wrap with mahogany veneer tonight , then spray some satin lacquer on it.

Thank you!

Thanks again Mark! I happen to have some mahogany veneer and poplar boards in the shop so that made it easy. Im not sure if what Im doing is the correct way to fix this drum, it might be a waste of time. Im sure real drum builders might laugh at this project. I bought this drum for a very low cost and all I have had to purchase so far is a Gibralter strainer, but I am considering new repop beaver tail lugs. Never had a 15" snare drum, cant wait to play it.

No Jeff, Real builders build them that way. Bit more stagger on the slanted joints and of course, a round drum oven and presto, The SONOR full vibrating shell.

That`s how SONOR does them but all at once. Then Bookmatch veneer the finishes in and out. My Phonics went into that factory as logs.

It`ll hold. You got about two inches lap and you did a great job on the joints.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Thank you Odball,

I did get the veneer done late last night, it came out good. Earlier I took the shell to my sanding table and trued up/flattened the edges so now I need to rout a round edge to the

exterior of the shell. Then its time for the spray gun.

Jeff - You're the best man - killer job ! Wish I'd had the space (and cash) to buy that WFL kit you restored for John (Purdie Shuffle) when it was available. I thought it was over the top cool.

Thank you everyone, your too kind!

Drum Doug, yes that was a very cool WFL kit that John sold but to be clear all I did was apply the veneer and finish, John did the rest and was the brains of the project.

Hope to get some finish on the shell tomorrow.

Thank you!
