Those are way too cool and totally savable . If I was not trying to get two deals finished right now I would pick them up . I hope they stay together .
Slingerland Gold Veil Find?
Guys: Please keep in mind the bass drum doesnt look like the pictures anymore. It has a huge crack on the wrap from top to bottom. (right were the badge is). I need to clarify that out so there wont be any misunderstandings. I was planning on restoring the set myself but when the bass drum wrap cracked it was time for me to sell it as is or break the set up.
Cause you got the bug dont'cha?

I know next to nothing about the history of Silingerland drums but sometimes it's just good to keep old rare drums, as in this case, the way you find them for the most part. I'd keep them as-is 'warts n' all' and maybe just clean them up a bit but gently. It's a good find and a rare piece of drum history from what I've read above. I kind of envy you for just having the kit....in any condition.
In the Slingerland book they talk about how fragile this "veil" finish was
...those are rare birds...I hope someone buys the complete set just to keep them together

Vinnie I hope you did not take it as I was attacking you . I do think that they should stay together even though they have some issues . A wrap that is that delicate in the first place it would be super hard to come as a single let alone a set . I hope they sell and stay together . Good luck man ...

Donnie: no worries buddy! I know a friend like you would never have a bad intention on a comment like that. I wish a could restore the set mysef but like I said its beyond my skills. Its not about the extra bucks like some might think. I've never broken a set. Every part I sell comes from orphans or unsalvageable drums. When I have two drums out of a set I always look for the missing "brothers". Sometimes I keep orphans for years in case a match pops up. Ill have the set stored for a while in case anyone here wants to take the risk...I paid $500.00 for it a couple of years ago. If I can get that for the set, Hey! I'll be a happy camper!
