Salvaging a calf head for display

From Pedal_Pusher

What a great job. When you put that much weight on a glue project, you have its undivided attention! I wonder what happened to Maple Leaf Orchestra number one?

Thanks! As far as orchestra No. 1, can't really say. The current day marching band in Chatham was contacted but their records going back that far have been lost. Having the story would be a cool addition to the piece, but such is life.

Great save! I really hate to see pieces of history thrown away because someone was unwilling to take a littl initiative to preserve it. Thanks for sharing. You did a great job

Great repair job! It might even be playable( as a resonant head). I've been wondering too, what happened to Maple Leaf Orchestra #1. My "research" revealed some possible skullduggery. MLO#2 was formed in order to keep up with the huge demand for MLO#1 at dances, fetes and hoe-downs. Naturally, a rivalry between the two developed, especially when MLO#2 was chosen for the coveted maiden voyage of the Titanic. In a gesture of goodwill, MLO#2 gave this prestigious gig to MLO#1. According to a report in the London Times,MLO#2 was at the pier for the maiden launch gleefully waving bon voyage to their former rivals. The rest is history.
