I admit my ignorance of most things vintage as pertains to drums... but being green is appropriate today. However, please explain how that works... having the tom arm go through to the bottom of the bass?

That seems really detrimental to vibration, projection, good sound, etc.

There IS a part of me that loves it however...

As tastes changed in music with the drum sound becoming more and more open, the way the jazzers always liked it,this wide tubing became problematic especially in the smaller toms. While it did slightly choke the resonance on them it semed to have no affect on the bass drums. It was the shells that Rogers were famous for, always have been.Players started to admire thier shiney polished drums and did,nt like the look of the BIG hardware masking thier beautys.Of course the weight factor was another issue. We should leave that for another discussion. So Rims come along and distribute that weight off the shell..and so on....But,those shells were and are the cream at the top!!..Some smart drummer in need of a potentially spectacular sounding kit really needs to pounce on theseExcited
