Rogers Red Onyx resto/ clean up

Loading...

FINALLY DONE!

I haven't had much time lately to work on these but was able to find some time this weekend to finish these up. I am very happy with how they turned out and really like the Red Onyx finish. I typically prefer a 4 pc. set up rather than a 5 pc., but I'll give the second rack tom a chance for a while and see what happens. I have had the repaired bass drum hoops under normal tension now for a few weeks and so far so good! I used white wall tire cleaner on the grimy Rogers coated heads because that's what I had handy and it worked wonders. It even took off some black permanent marker drawings! Rogers sure did make some classy looking outfits in their day and I'm proud to own another one.

Thanks for looking!

Simply put, beautiful! Such a classic vintage look and that nice bright wide-open onyx pattern of that period is just about as good as it gets. Those came out really, really nice.

Given the cymbals and hardware you got along with the 4 drums, I think you made a great purchase. As I noted before, if I didn't already have a red onyx kit, I'd have taken it myself.

Also, the 22,12,16 setup you can use with that Londoner mount is a comfortable one. If those drums were just over the line to early Fullerton (the borderless tags), they would have had a script on both sides and the 13 would also display a script if used on the left side. Ah, but that was an idea that came very slowly to Rogers for some reason.

Nice kit Period..

Ya put elbow grease into them, I see...

Always make them sound better...doesn't it.?

I use all mine as well or the 1 up 1dwn setup..

However lately...I have my 12" up & my 13" setup with a rim mount and attached to a boom std with a ride on her...(setup right beside my 16" flr)...so 1 up and 2 dwn...suspending the 13"

it does save a lot of space (incorp the boom std and ride cym) try it one day...\

all the best..

looking for a trade..?

I sure do like red..I married an Italian...lol

Rims&Skins,

I've tried my 13" down by the 16" on other kits and really thought is was fun to mess around with. I liked that I could keep my ride where I usually have it next to the 12".

As far as trades, I'll probably just enjoy them for a while. I can let you know if I decide to let them go though.

Thanks, Randy
