It's one of my favorites too, I wish there was a way to repair the cracks in the wrap.

Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast. The material used to make this type of sheet goods wrap was prone to becoming brittle, and cracking. The vintage style pearl wraps such as WMP and BDP were made of two layers of material laminated together. The vintage style sparkle wraps were made sandwiching glass or aluminum shards between two layers of wrap. The Onyx type of wrap was a single layer of sheet goods. The laminated wraps were/are less prone to the cracking problem. But, some do crack.

I agree whole-heartedly. The blue, grey/black, and yellow varieties from Rogers and/or Slingerland are also good looking wraps.

I'm considering doing a re-wrap, would you guys? The cracks are fairly bad and there's some bubbling on the wrap.

If they were my drums, and I want to gig with them, I would say: "Damn the nay-sayers". I would re-wrap them. At that point, it doesn't matter what wrap you choose. If you're going to replace the cracked wrap with the current version of the same wrap, maybe reconsider, and try to stabilize the extent of the cracking. Otherwise, I say to go for it.

If you plan to keep these, I'd say a re-wrap is a good idea.. a solid investment.

I know that you sell and trade often, so if you are planning to do that with this kit, I'd leave them like they are and let the next owner re wrap them to what they want.
