What exactly is the story with the '60s Rogers R-360 kits? I hear the shells were birch and made by Yamaha?? What do the interiors look like, painted grey on the inside?
THANKS!

Looks like a project...
I would jump on this deal very quickly - as it will not be there for very long at all. Yeah - these are built by Yamaha and this particular kit looks to be late 60s (tom mount style).
Everyone I read who has these rave about them - yeah - birch shells, but may be mixed with other wood as well......superior quality to the rest of the MIJ kits of that time.
You can always trade for those correct lugs - you have some lugs to use to trade and even if you have to invest a little $ - that is still a GREAT deal.
Since this is MIJ, some Rogers drummer consider these to be Yammys and not true genuine Rogers....others feel that they are genuine Rogers considering that they were indeed designed by Rogers and I believe some of the parts are American made (especially the snares). HW is great on these.
Search up on these (360s and 380s) and if you still have any questions, consider consulting The Ploughman......but you might not need to as there is quite a bit info on here and www.drumforum.org

Ad says, "factory painted green on the inside", can anyone shed some light on this? Green seems to be an odd choice for a factory interior paint job.
I think the overwhelming consensus on the R-360 line is that they are MIJ drums, pure and simple. They were essentially, one of Yamahas drum lines that Rogers put their brand on, thats all. Hardly real Rogers drums in any way, shape or form.
I own a few "real" Rogers kits and I know what the deal is with these being MIJ and all. I'm just trying to get a little more info than I have, in particular, if the interiors were painted by someone else.
I had an R-360 kit back in the 90's. I recall the shell interiors being gray.
I also think they should be grey interiors. Maybe he's just seeing it as green.
They may not be real Rogers drums but they will be very good. Well made, decent materials and tough. I have 2 Yamaha kits from this era and they are great.
Maybe the green is a result of "bar tan."
